What is your native operating system
« on: February 04, 2011, 07:31:32 pm »
What operating system do you use overall, what pros/cons do you face with this operating system as compared to other OS's that you have used. Im looking for a more detailed answer than "windows".

Personally i find myself using Windows7 x64 for my normal tasking because it easily supports the massive workload i have open, it boots very quickly and i need to get new familiar with new software for the field of computer repair. I rarely use my backtrack4 or XP installation, though i find myself in there when i want to do something specific to the operating system, mess around on my network or recover lost data with backtrack.
Enjoy your creative game-play, whatever that may include.

Vista 64. Slow boot, gets very slow very quickly with all the shite I put on it.
When I first had it disk speed 80mb/s, now 20mb/s

I like XP very much, and x64 is perfect when it comes to performance. I do most of the serious business like programming in Linux/MacOS though.

The only thing I dislike about XP is the window-handling system, sometimes I have stacks of 20 windows and so on.

That is your own fault for not updating and providing current protection....the same happens with all OS's.

I got wacked with Iframe issues from a well known website last year.
It took me 4 hours or so to fix it and I even run 6 security programs all the time!
I have not reinstalled the OS for the 3+ years this machine has been running...if shit happens I do not reformat but do battle untill I fix it.

I was raised in the Old School and won't except defeat.

I see a virus as a reason to re-wipe my harddrive, on my main PC I have almost filled 2 1tb drives.

PC is a LOT faster before I install shit on it.

You see it as a reason to fold under and submit.
I see it as a reason to get rightly pissed off and want to kick some ass.

You fold and reinstall...and happy things run faster.
I say "fuck you" to infections and DO NOT reinstall but wipe an infection, clean and defrag my registry, take control of my system and manage to boot with XP in under 30 sec's with 6 active security programs on boot.

I suppose it all comes down to mindset and not allowing virus/trojan/maleware or my government to have any control over me.

Yes...as far as government I am a Tea Party person and helped to remove (like a virus)/fire most of the problems in my country...the rest will be removed in the next election!

Well, fight then. The fact that I have 2 tb's of absolute bollocks on my drives just says it all, I would have to re-format my PC anyway and a virus is a nice excuse to do so.

You can fight, but I don't see the point. Everything important is backed up, drives take mins to reinstall off a disk I made, all my games ect are put back on quickly.

I might have to completely wipe both disks, then put all my shit on one and keep the other clean of everything.

The point is I have not nor will not ever submit...on-line nor ever in real life.
Battle me and you face a person who will stand his ground and work every angle to counter and defeat you.
Like I said I was raised Old School and will never except defeat.

I have had the living shit beat out of me more than one time in my life...but I always ended up standing my ground and winning every battle.
On-line is the same.
I do not except defeat.
Never have and never will.

Everyone in face-to-face combat or on-line who has been before me knows I am "General Z" and not accepting of personal abuse...and that my word is my bond and good as gold.
Maybe better than gold.
