Music in game?
« on: November 18, 2010, 02:40:39 am »
Anyway I could stream music and force all players to listen to it? I am welcoming all sorts of ways (I guess there are many). Basically, It would be fun to force-spam music in the game and would produce alot of laughs.

"What I hear" or whatever your sound card/MB sound calls it...hit the play key and whatever your playing/listening to gets sent via games built in voice chat.

And on that day, the mute button was pressed.

AND THE ALMIGHTY CAME DOWN, AND SMOTE MY ABILITY TO HEAR HIS SPAM MUSIC!

And I then got upon my knees, and did not blow the almighty one.

NO

I instead thanked him from the pit of my African-Jamaican-American heart, and said:

"You da shit, homie."

You can play the ingame music via scripting, but if you want your own you'll either need to:

A. Use those dodgy arsed .ogg custom sounds
B. Set your input device to stereo mix

To FORCE It to be heard without no way of muting, use a OGG. Ways to play it are included in every mission that uses them.

Oh yea, that was fun back in the days when it was impossible to see who talked over IP. I used to play all sorts of crazy stuff and whistle to the tune. People went nuts because they knew their taste was inferior.

I think OGG is probably the best way. Only problem is, some game servers dont allow the sound mods and most have a cap on the size.

Any way I could stealth inject the ogg? (tricking the server into thinking the file is under 50kb but making it lag for a min or two.)

VOIP would only let those non-humourus bastards mute or kick (even ban on some servers). Would be funny if we had a VOIP/VON hack. No-one would know who was talking (like a chat hack) and you could say/stream whatever you wanted.

EDIT: By stealth inject, I mean fooling the server with the file size and doing it while in-game.

You just put it in a PBO and spoof that. OR play the ones already in the mission, which is even better.

PBO?

Hmm, thinking of it, is there any way I could use a working exec command to call in an OGG from another folder?

Basically, I want to be able to change the music on the go (In game).

You could, but they would need the .ogg as well in that folder for it to play. (So you can always play annoying shit music that might be in the mission file! ie. DOM Wings of Steel intro/Top Gun)

Problem with the stereo option that so many people have suggested is that the idea is to stealth play the music (name cant show up in-game to other players while playing music).

About the ogg, I am wondering if it is possible to play an over 50kb ogg. I've noticed that all the other player's oggs are in my app folder (so whatever they hear, I can play too). So, in effect, when a player joins, all clients/or server download the joined players ogg files simultaniously. This is probably what causes the lag problem that some people get when a player joins (eventually kicks some people too). I just think, is it possible to hide the file size from the server (like a program that would edit the value of the file size?). Sounds a bit complicated but can there can be bypasses for these files just like there are for pbos?
