'speedhacks' make my computer go slower
« on: May 23, 2004, 08:15:50 pm »
when i have them activated, my harddrive seems  to randomly start going for long periods of time slowing my computer down A LOT. the game im playing is unplayable until it stops again (but then starts again a few minutes, sometimes seconds later)
is there a reason and/or fix for this, or is it unique in my case?

Windows ME is the problem.

Lol yeah it could be. I had windows ME, it was the worst Windows I've ever had. Microsoft made it to fund the advertising campaign for XP.  :D

I used Win98SE and it worked for years, till I finally upgraded to XP.

Windows ME was/is pure crap.

It was almost totaly incompatable with most games for one reason or another (had to have spcl patchs/drivers) and other problems.

Windows 2000 was not that much better.

Windows server 2003 also has problems with many games and Window 64 is built upon the 64 bit part of it.......and only runs some 32 bit software for that same reason.

ME had a lot of strange problems along with gettickcount there were a lot of driver issues as it was an unfinished version of an os and was the pre fund raiser for XP , i remember ME well actually because it had appalling problems with hardware and drivers , remember helping a friend try and fix his sound card problems , we spent almost a full 24 hours trying to get a sound card working , we eventually gave up and i gave him a old sound card which luckily worked with ME , i enjoyed the dinner his wife cooked though.

Never had that many bluescreens in an OS before. ME was completely terrible, but they managed to recover with XP and then 7. Still sceptical about 10 though.

10 is spyware and the latest >FORCED UPDATE WHICH THEY ALONE CONTROL< is uninstalling 3rd party Programs that are not MS Approved.
