in all fairness ...it is not a programmers job to fix a hack that works , its up to the end user to fix their system if it does not work on it.
I fully agree with that statement, however TKC is a community and it has guidelines and even rules it has made clear on the posting/hosting of files which any programmer who wishes to share with the general public agrees to when they join the "community".
Most of the "community" has forgotten those terms we agreed to,and with time people forget they even saw them when they joined the forum and to be 100% honest both you and I,and most of the rest of the Staff it's self, can't even RECALL the location of the STICKY that lists them.
The most often enforced rule is "NO OFFSITE HOSTING WITHOUT PERMISSION".
This rule was put into place early in the history of TKC as a few of the people opposed to a free fun loving and thinking community such as ours had been linked to TROJANS/VIRUS on offsite hosts which the Staff of TKC had no control over.
Files HOSTED on TKC and served to the general public via our bandwith on the otherhand undergo testing, scanning and review before the public may even view them in our download section...and are thus safe for everyone.
One of the related "rules" was a simple read-me/nfo file stating how to use/employ and what other files may be needed.
In the past 2 years TKC has had to deal with a group of forum hackers who attacked the site over a beef with one of the section Mods (no real issue as I had people say "hello" to the leader at his work place one day) and more currently a WORLD WIDE attack on ALL sites using the software TKC's forum was based on.
This last issue corrupted our PUBLIC DOWNLOAD SECTION and some people had been OK'ed to host offsite in the interm.
The issues involved have been corrected both from the forum software providers and our IT person in DE (we have our own "extra" programs in place).
For the benefit of all the members of our community we as such need to return to our standards regarding simple and common sense practices.
The Sysop (Mullah Omar) will be re-posting an update of the general rules and agreements after a review and updating of them soon.
The Sysop and Staff of TKC wants to promote the game players on-line fun via Freedom while both teaching how to make programs and protecting them from our "detractors".
