"hiding" your ip address
« on: March 25, 2009, 07:42:10 am »
I've been in some games where the admin has been trying to get a players ip, to then ban them, but they're crying foul as their is no ip available for that player.

I appreciate you can't really hide your ip or your location but there would seem to be a way of maybe using a "false ip & false location" that ppl see, instead of your real ip/location.

So, I've been looking/searching through the TKC forums for anything on "hiding" your ip address, but not having real luck - can anyone point me in the right direction.

Also "googled" hide ip, and got various programs such us NetConceal ........ any advice/comments on these?

cheers :smile

if you could find a fast proxy that would work. though i would say most would slow the connection too much.
Enjoy your creative game-play, whatever that may include.

When playing on-line you can't "spoof" an IP like people who use UDP to mess with websites because you can't receive info from the server.

Years back I posted about fast socks proxies and even uploaded a tool that seached for and tested them for speed (think it was like 5 years ago) and that tool was in the TKC public download section.
I have no idea if it is still there.

There is more than one why to play on-line and still hide yourself.

Crafty people can manage to have the admin ban themselfs.

Most games will only list the first IP number for a player they receive from them and that is the one that the admin see...and ban.

Smartest thing you've said since I've been on the boards Z.

You could also try http://ipredator.se/
It works fast enough for torrent up/downloads so it should also work with games.
Cost is 5 EUR per month and still free for a few more days.
