Ahh, now you see it's totally the opposite here in Australia. Blu-ray is just starting to emerge (as per my previous post) and HD is still the in-thing. My father recently bought an 83cm LCD tv. Noticing blur, only a week after buying it he bought a Set top box (I think thats what they are called, correct me if im wrong). It greatly improved quality and it makes watching NASCAR's SO much better (especially with the surround sound). Well with the box we got extra channel, HD channels. They feature some good movies and these channels are still and "innovation" here in Aust. I know it sounds like we are behind in the world but I like to believe that we are only second, behind (yes you guessed it) America.
Well there's two different things here. I was talking about High Density-DVDs, which have all but lost the HD VS Blu-Ray war for the next DVD format. Hi-Def TV channels are taking off here, and it sounds like in Australia too.
Ahh, conflict of abbreviations. Speaking of Blu-ray, they have actually surfaced here upon closer inspection. I had a look in a couple of catalog's (not looking for anything specifically) and I found Blu-ray players. I think they won't be that popular for another half decade here anyway as the prices are WAY too high. Bout 1 grand for a Blu-ray player. Only rich people will buy it (rich people here HAVE to have everything, no matter how useless, if it's the in-thing its a must-have). But, the conservative shoppers will wait a couple months (possibly even years) for the price to come down and for more Blu-ray dvd's to come out then they might buy it.
