Dedicated server key check
« on: March 03, 2008, 09:12:05 pm »
Hello all,
I would like to up my own dedicated server.
However, there's a problem. My ArmA copy is "kinda borrowed" if you know what I mean  :icon_devil

Now whenever I try to connect my own sever, then I get key error. I can assume that it is going to happen to everyone with "borrowed" copy.

Is there a way to disable this key check? I can connect to quite many servers, and I wonder how they disabled this check

Mucho gracias :)

i dont think talking about this kind of .. thing .. is allowed , but it should be easy to make your own , just find where it checks with the master server , and .. ahem .. compensate for it

you need a paypal account for the private versions.

Thanks guys,

I figured out the problem.

Use Arma_server.exe which is installed while paching your copy to 1.08. It doesn't check the key. The latest server.exe (for 1.08 patch of course) available from Bohemia or other websites can check your key.

My ArmA Gold copy will take 2 weeks to arrive  :icon_cry2

Well most server EXE's that use GameSpy wait to see if "your key is in use" or blacklisted.
If the server does NOT get a "no" from the GS Master Server it lets you in.

Changing the address/url for the master server to your personal computer insures that it never reports a "no".

I just noticed the address that hosts http://armedassault.wikia.com/wiki/Armed_Assault_Wiki reading this page.  :icon_laugh
