z is a liar.  impossible i bet hes talking about standby modus which takes from pressing the button on the case untill login screen about 5 seconds as well. nothing can be faster than having everything allready in memory like it is the case with suspend-to-ram (S3 modus).

No...it takes 7 sec to boot to desktop after post.
Besides keeping your registry clean and defragmented (thats registry, not the normal HD defrag)...and useing BootVis to layout the programs for startup...the real delay in time is from the HD.

If I had Raid 0 with Raptors or the new Seagate 7200.10 drives my system would really boot fast!
I had Raid 0 one time...NEVER AGAIN!

At one time I had a system with ONLY the parts of XP load that I really needed...I had 3 sec from end of post to desktop.
A video of how to set up XP this way is on the DFI forums. It was the way a Pro gamer had his system set up for every nano-sec of performance.

Stanley Kubrick wrote and directed some of the most talked-about films of the 1960s and 1970s: the Roman slave saga Spartacus (1960), the Cold War satire Dr. Strangelove (1964), the spooky and thoughtful space opera 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968, co-written with Arthur C. Clarke), the nightmarish A Clockwork Orange (1971), and the socko horror film The Shining (1980, starring Jack Nicholson). Kubrick's films featured arresting visuals, inventive stories and an often bleak view of humanity. The director was known as a deliberate perfectionist who often filmed dozens of takes of a single shot and took three or more years to plan and shoot a film. He was also famously reclusive, rarely appearing in public and wrapping his later productions in extreme secrecy. He died in 1999 shortly after shooting his last film, Eyes Wide Shut, with Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise.
Extra credit: After Kubrick's death his long-planned film project, A.I., was completed and released by Steven Spielberg in 2001.

In the Library of Congress this film has been saved in the 100 most important works of film of the past century and ranks as #26.

Quote
The title character, Dr. Strangelove, serves as President Muffley's scientific advisor in the War Room, presumably making use of prior expertise as a Nazi physicist: upon becoming an American citizen, he translated his German surname "Merkw?rdigliebe" to the English equivalent. Twice in the film, he accidentally addresses the President as "Mein F?hrer."

I like the movie too.
School made me watch it and to be honest I wasn't really looking forward to it.
However, it was a really nice movie and I'm not that old, but I'm quite sure it's a classic.

It has a weird but good sense of humour in my opinion and even though the movie has been made in 1964, it's really fun to watch even now, more than 40 years later.

Love this quote:

Gen."Buck" Turgidson: "Doctor, you mentioned the ratio of ten women to each man. Now, wouldn' t that necessitate the abandonment of the so-called monogamous sexual relationship, I mean, as far as men were concerned?"

- Dr. Strangelove: "Regrettably, yes. But it is, you know, a sacrifice required for the future of the human race. I hasten to add that since each man will be required to do prodigious... service along these lines, the women will have to be selected for their sexual characteristics which will have to be of a highly stimulating nature."
