Vista makes it easier for companies to spy on users and control what they do. There is also a digital rights management system. In some cases users won't be able to modify programs they've bought or will have trouble running programs made by companies not cooperating with microsoft.

They've also made the system resource hungry just to make people buy new computers with better hardware. There is no reason to higher the minimum specs, but as they are cooperating with the hardware manufacturers it's a good deal for both parties.

I will try to avoid Vista but I think most developers will gain from the new Vista OS and launch programs constructed for DX 10 and Vista only.

If you have 2GB of ram in your system Vista will load into and take up 940MB's!!!

Vista also has some damn evil DRM in it's core....no moving/copy/burning of music/vidio past it's built-in lmt.

Screw Vista.
I have no use for it at all.

I dont think I'll touch vista untill SP1 or 2 is about
I remember too well how crappy XP and 2000 ran without service packs

XP was like "shutting down in 50 seconds"
2000 was "explorer.exe had an error"

I forgot to point out that the link in the 1st post is not the only one to get "screwed" by Vista Beta.

It can also be d/l by all P2P and dirrect from Microsoft.

Screw Vista.

It's the same deal with Win 64.
I am not going to use over 4GB of ram so I don't need it or the problems that come with it.

DX 10...only with Vista.
How many decades will it be befor DX 10 is used by people?

I'm thinking about that DX10 thing. Right now no hardware supports it. Shouldn't be a good idea to buy a new card now if someone has plans on doing so.

DX10 seems great though. At least for the developers. It saves a lot of trouble but the bad thing is that they've remade a lot of the API.

I am running vista rc1 and absolutely love it, love the eye candy and just the whole feel. The o/s hasnt crashed once and im now using it as my main o/s.  Ram usage is great close to what it was for xp. Its a little embarassing but i love it. No other beta x64 wer really worth anything but this is great. Scored pretty high in the self test tho 4.5.
