Hello!
I been lurking in the shadows but now I am registered.
Interesting site and people here, looks like fun times.
I'm just another old guy that has been playing with computers since 1980.
Catch ya later...

Wow you took awhile to get into the 32/64 bit action.

When I moved up from 8 bit I bought a 32 bit Mac at a thrift shop for $20 about the last 3 months of 1999.
It was still running after Jan 2000 and escaped the "year 2000 bug"!

The next one I built...it was an AMD 500 (fastest CPU at the time) and the highest end ATI and Soundblaster cards.
Next up was the AMD XP's (ended with the Barton 3200+) and then onto the AMD 64's and Optrons.
Love the Optrons as I can overclock them 1 Ghz on stock voltages.

Back in February  of this year when Obama helped drop all the stocks to record lows I sold off almost all of my CD's and bought up some INTC and AMD stock dirt cheap.
My INTC went up almost 2 X's and the AMD is up over 4 times the value.
The only thing I regret was not picking up some YUM and FTR back then.
All the Franklin Mutual Funds are still down over 3k per 10K of buying price but I put the dividends into re-buys back in late 2007 so I have lots more shares for when the economy turns around...after that commie a-hole Oboma and his group are out of power.
I always make sure I end up paying zero in federal income taxs.
