SWG any good and where can i buy it?

It's amazing once you get into it, and Pre-CU was the best sandbox MMORPG of its time, and arguably ever since. Unfortunately, you can no longer "buy" it (unless you want to trust sketchy Amazon dealers who haven't updated their sales pages in four years) since it went out of business due to SOE later destroying all of its gameplay mechanics,  so you have to torrent it to play on the emulator. The emulator is still in alpha testing, but is still way more fun than any MMORPG I have played ever since. The worlds are MASSIVE, you can literally spend more than a few days  exploring one planet and from what I remember space took like a month, but the curious thing is you will still see a lot of players and the group play is fantastic. It has one of the most in-depth crafting systems of any game as well  legitimate, non-instanced player cities anyone can visit and set up nearly anywhere on the planet. It is one of the few games where it is entirely viable to be a completely non-combat player if you want. You can be a musician, dancer, architect, armorsmith, doctor, ect, and a whole lot more and rake in millions of credits. You can also mix and match skills; you aren't locked into a set profession forever and given some idiotic and restrictive expertise tree system like WoW, you can be a Rifleman and a Dancer, for example, or a Teras Kasi Artist (Think like Karate Master, except in Star Wars) and a Weaponsmith. When fighting someone, you never knew what their build was or could be, and when trying to compete with rival merchants for business, you never knew what else they could bring to the fore to attract customers. You could even be a creature handler where you could go out and tame the babies of wild animals and carefully tend them over time so that when they become adults, they'll serve you and slaughter your opponents. You could have up to three pets at one time of varying stripes, colors, and statistics as well.

Once they put in all of the professions, pets, mounts, and quests, it will still beat any MMORPG made, in terms of fun, in the past ten years, perhaps ever. I've not played one yet that matches its depth and complexity.

You can EVEN be a Medic, Mr. Medic, I kid you not.

http://swg.wikia.com/wiki/Combat_Medic (This is from after they screwed up the game; in the emulator you can play the ORIGINAL combat medic who can  utilize biological warfare and  really screw up any group who doesn't have a doctor to cure them. Combat Medics are feared, especially if they are combined with a ranged combat profession, meaning they can kite you and hit you with diseases until you die.

There are also Doctors and Bio-Engineers(IE, you can genetically engineer pets for Creature Handlers) if you are into medical professions. You can even be a smuggler and make drugs if you want to.

Some gameplay videos/trailers:

(This is why I went Imperial. If you managed to spend a lot of time grinding faction points, you could get up to three AI AT-STs and raid a rebel city, and could kill maybe like one third of the population before you went down. There was nothing that scared me more when I was a Rebel then seeing an Imperial raiding group heading toward one of our cities with like nine AT-STs and stormtrooper NPCS. Of course, the Imperials whined like hell when you finally took them down).

You could even be a Jedi if you spent an insane amount of time grinding, but if you revealed yourself by using a lightsaber/force powers in public, you would get a bounty placed on you by the Empire and other players could hunt you down and kill you for money. Initially, there was a three death and that's it system, where your character would simply die permanently as a Jedi, but they changed that to massive skill loss. Either way, it encouraged Jedi to be extremely careful while playing. They were kind of like an "alpha" advanced class once they reached Jedi Knight/Jedi Master, but they were by no means unkillable by an extremely smart, well-prepared Bounty Hunter or group of players, and, due to the grind required and the necessity to hide until you became a fairly powerful Jedi, they were extremely rare to see and it was always worth watching when a Jedi came strolling into town.

And the Emulator team will also be adding Jump to Lightspeed, where you can FLY IN YOUR OWN SHIP AROUND THE GALAXY AND BLOW UP CAPITAL SHIPS WITH OTHER PLAYERS!

Summary: If you got addicted to DayZ because it was an open-world sandbox where you could do whatever you wanted, SWG would be like high-quality cocaine compared to it. There's a reason why thousands of players have waited over seven years for the emulator in order to play what it was like in the first two years of Star Wars Galaxies.
