im feeling sympathy for rocket. Really he has done a great job!
Although (looking from my "need to exploit" side) im feeling aggravated towards the friendly talking between rocket and medic. If Medic joins you rocket, please tell us so we can stop any efforts :D.

But its also interesting, what Dayz have arma changed into. Back in the days (bla bla) executing or trying some scripts did not gave you a global guid ban. In my 2 years of playing this game i (in fact) never came along someone who was globally banned.

Retarded acts always get followed by retarded descisions.

In all seriousness, if you can suggest effective methods for dealing with nukes - I'm all ears.

I trialed methods, but as the more advanced of you know - the code i have is pretty heavy on frames as it is. To have it constantly searching for bombs, vehicles, and all sorts - it kills the game experience. Also, I believe this should be solved in architecture (engine), not in the design scripts. It is the only way to be reasonably effective. And even then, there would still be ways. Monitoring at the database end is the other option, but that takes time to get right too.

In short, look - seriously - if you can suggest a better idea I would push to overturn the bans and do that.

I tried this morning , closest i got was nearestobjects and using typeof , but it will not pick up gbu unless you created it , so be a good idea to tell bi programming team to get their finger out of their arse holes and allow all missiles and bullets into nearestobjects arrays.

That's not going to protect you against line of sight damage from large explosions, or tank shells.

Perhaps a more effective damage threshold? Have a script responsible for handling player health (although the blood system kinda implements this already) and have a way of detecting when damage received is excessive.

I prefer to try and see things as they *are*. It's not easy, I have to "get over myself" and that is why I think I often seem like a dick online, because my initial posts are usually one of humor. Then I sit down, and think about it.

The guys here that mod-app, you guys are always going to do your thing. And a game designer, when dealing with multiplayer - well he is going to put some structure in there. I would be interested to see if there is a design in there that could work for a future game/mod that supports mod-apping in a "matrix" style... but in terms of DayZ - of course my aim will be to lock it down.

But I don't want to see people unable to access because they were stupid and didn't know what they are doing. It was funny, but then I realized it isn't.

*shrug* that is just the way it is, well at least as far as it seems to me. What good would it do for me to get butt-hurt about it beyond telling you how I felt about it initially? I don't think it really achieves anything.

EDIT: lol, thanks MrMedic - I will be sure to pass that on.

I'm shying away from trying to catch scripts in the code itself. The issue is, you just can't catch them fast enough. And you're using up performance. Also, scripts run in the scheduler so they can end up running slowly with unpredictable results especially when in a loop. Checking constantly for something is a huge drain on the system.

I see that approach like DRM, you end up affecting legitimate players and not really getting those who are getting around it, so why bother?

The issue needs to be dealt with at an engine level, so that it runs correctly and in line with how the application was programmed. Otherwise, I write some clumsy shitty script monitor to check, use up some of the frame checking, degrade the players performance, and very quickly a new way to get around that can be found.

As I said in my first post, this is not a battle I can win. Only by altering the anti-cheat and engine mechanisms can anything be realistically done. Well, from what I can tell anyway.

Write a nuking script, find a way to stop it, make another one, find a way to stop it, make another one, find a way to stop it. That's the best middle-ground of the way you can get.
I have posted how to crash servers before, in case BI cares. Infact I posted one of the methods of crashing servers (Found about 4 a few months ago when I was fucking with UL. Damn I don't like those guys)

I actually also have a method of stopping this at engine level, but it's not a clean one and is defiantly not a permanent solution to any of your problems. Considering how much fucking money you have made BI you would think they would help you, eh?

I did end up writing a bunch of things about why people are perceived as they are, but it's not worth it.
