delivering terabit broadband

Inside the sewers delivering terabit broadband
Quote
Each of the four mud-covered cables in the tunnel we visited holds 412 fibres, and engineer Matt Adams told me a pair of dedicated fibres, which he said most businesses take, effectively gives unlimited bandwidth. Geo claims its recent tests showed each individual fibre offered 2.5TB/sec. Of the four cables running through our sewer, two were full of fibre and ready to go, while the other two were about half full, Adams said ? meaning Geo can easily blow fibre through to boost capacity when needed.

Impressive.

I got the option to get 100/100 out of my socket now for $20/month. Some people have the option to enable 1gbit/s but I think it would cost something about $150 a month.

I pay for 1.5 Mbps and get 375 Kbps...out in the middle of No Place...when it works.

From June until mid September the smoke from the wild fires cut visibility down to about 1/2 mile.
Without the wild fires you can see Mt Shasta 150 miles away.

I've been to Clear Lake somewhere south of there. You don't just see far, you see all the stars and the milky way perfectly, even in the summer. Never seen it like that before, and the best part is that you can sleep outside. Get yourself one of those strong telescopes, you could see the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturnus, even Andromeda if you're lucky ;)
