General Modding & Programming / Other Games / Packet Editor for XP
« on: December 01, 2004, 03:59:53 pm »
Does anybody know of a decent packet editor  that works for XP? It seems most for XP can capture but not edit.

MPC didn't work last time I tried it, but it's worked before. I haven't seen game-deception online for months, but I don't check it that regularly. Digressing to another subject, do you think rainerstoff would mind me adding a key-customising option to his 3.1 hook via a trainer?

Never mind I finally got it working :o . I just need to load it into memory and create a new thread for it. Thanks anyways.

Seems to be the same story everywhere, people can tell you where to download the loader, but not much else about how it actually works. I'm losing so much time on it I'm getting tempted to just write my own freaking wallhack.

I'm trying to implement a loader for rainerstoff's wallhack but I can't seem to find any info anywhere on how to actually make one that works for this file. Does anybody know what I'm meant to patch to get his to work. I assume I need to do this.....

Load VC
Load vchook.dll into vcmemory
Hook a function, or create a new thread to run the dll's code

I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find anything. Source code to an old loader or wallhack would really help but is not neccessary.

I recompile cbf's the lazy way, I just create a blank directory with the files I want to complie in it, and then patch the default compile path in the editor. All I do after that is open a map and compile it. The compiler will generate a new cbf or dat(dat=cbf btw) file, but not the maps. I have toyed with the idea of creating a utility that taps into the game dlls and uses the internal functionality, but haven't gotten around to it yet. This would allow me to do generate certificates and from there essentially anything.

OK fair enough. Like a true geek I found computers fascinating when I was your age. I used to hack the old commodore systems(c64 and amiga), but the internet was bbs then lol. :D

Not meaning to sound nasty, but how did you ever become part of the dev group joker? Judging by your posts you don't know much about computers, and you even posted the other day that you don't understand binary. Binary and hex are absolute prerequisites if you want to have any hope of coding anything worthwhile.

There are 10 types of people in this world, and only half of them understand binary

I don't really edit anything with the debugger, I mostly use it to trace. I do edit asm with it occasionally while testing.

Ethereal w/ wpcap 3.1 . Like I said earlier, it doesn't really do any packet editing directly, but it does change variables in memory before they are sent. The packet editor is to help me find what is being sent to the remote server and when. I then have to track down via a debugger/injected code logs the place where these variables are being set and patch the code so that the functions return what I want them to return.

It seems the patch is still a work in progress. I said in another post somewhere that WPE pro(XP) could  see the packets VC used but this is definately wrong. It misses several key packets and thus the trainer is very hit and miss ATM. But area51 and I were wallhacking on a server with a few other friends the other night for several hours without getting kicked once. I have found a better sniffer so I'll have another go.

Part of the calling routine to make a program modify it's own execution as it executes itself  . Particularly useful for ensure perfect syncronisation with dynamically loaded modules

Thnx. It still has a couple of minor interface things to finalise but it works. It doesn't hook anything but the executables in memory really, as it patches into the vc executables and also the hradba dll when it loads.
