Armed Assault / Re: IMPORTANT SCP Update
« on: October 29, 2007, 03:38:37 pm »
It's a feature of the game, thus it's not our job to stop it. ArmA can be used to "crash" itself. The SCP can too, because it allows one to use the features of arma freely. People may do what they want with their game. It's not our responsibility.
Stop talking crap. Being able to click "spawn zombies" in the SCP is not an ArmA feature, it's a SCP feature. Any way to crash a program works by taking advantage of a program flaw or feature, this is no different. Your tool allows people to bring down servers.

You people are trying to destroy ArmA MP. This is going beyond the normal wallhacks and aimbots into something more serious. What do you have against BIS and the ArmA players? Or do you just like to ruin things for people?

It is not the same as a script to crash the server so lets stick to the subject OK?
My point still stands. It does just as much damage.

As I recall reading the SCP has a program in it that will STOP people from locking your keyboard as well.
So...how hard would it be to just run that one script for all players?
Oh wait...that would be too simple of a solution!
Yes. More scripts running in the background to protect us from TKC. So now because of TKC every mission must be modded or everyone must install an addon to stop keyboards from being locked?
Then TKc would just make up a new way to screw with other players. There are loads of ways and not all of them can be easily blocked by scripts.

I never bothered anyone...most server owners KNOW all of my IP's and don't care.
Good for you. But the rest of your friends do bother players, which is obviously what the problem is for many ArmA players

@Mulluh: That just proves your ignorance. You guys made a program that allows people to intentionally crash servers, and then you state that you are against crashing. You're full of BS man.

TKC is such a bunch of hypocrites :icon_rolleyes2

So 4 or 5 of us in-out of TKC have been active in ending crashes...if you want to help then stick to facts not dreams.
SCP does not have any limits on how much crap you can spawn as far as I know. So it can't be hard to cause a crash with it.

Locking up someones keyboard forces them to shut down the game. It's just as bad as a crash.

Lol, well I guess there is more to talk about when you've got different opinions.

Of course there are ways to detect things and in the same way there are ways to bypass those.

As you see we have only had one or maybe two complaints about the SCP being detected. Most people can use it without probs.
Most people who download SCP don't come to forums and don't say anything when it doesn't work for them. They probably try other servers or give up. You guys may think you know everything that happens and that your 'insiders' tell you everything, but that's BS.

SCP doesn't even have much to do with TK'ing or cheating. Locking up keyboards and crashing servers by spawning crap everywhere is going too far. Now because of you the ArmA players are locking some servers and finding ways to deal with you.
You say crashing servers is against your rules, well thats clearly a lie.

I wouldn't call them random people as much as insiders.
Call them what you want :wink2

The only thing DACs did in regard to the SCP was to check for that string. People don't get locked when having that changed.  :icon_sly
And how hard do you think it is to fix that? :icon_laugh
No matter how many random strings you use, you can't send commands to a server without there being a way to detect it :icon_magician

You know, me, Doolittle, and the other 'anti-TKC' guys seem to be making up the majority of comments here :icon_laugh
So much for a community, you're just a bunch of outcasts fighting against a community :icon_thumbsup

I don't see how changing a text string makes a difference.
Also wondering where you guys get these ideas? Random people tell you how your cheats are being detected?  :icon_biggrin2

Bans are more dangerous to the player amounts than nice cheats.
:icon_laugh
I'd rather lose a few asshole players than put up with cheats :icon_razz2
You guys made some ArmA players go this far. So much for the "freedom" hey? You guys went too far with SCP, so you've screwed it up for yourselves :smile

Lol, who cares if the syntax is "old". We're interested in functionality and don't have the time to read up on sqf which we apparently don't need. Most of the code is either ported or a c++ers approach to sqs/sqf.

Funny part is that sqs can do just as much anyway along with the fact it is not cached in memory. So editing it is easier. Ran into that with DSTS where Arma would cache the script in memory once it pulled it in.
So an sqf script executed with 'execvm' stays in memory for the entire mission? That seems weird.

May I have access to your developer forum?
Errm yea sure...
And me please? :icon_biggrin2

Looking at SCP, I'm pretty sure I can do better scripting than that, you guys even use old OFP sqs syntax. OLD!!! Will you use sqf for the new one? Get with the times people! :wink2

There'll be a SCP update on nov 5th.
Nov 5th is gonna be one hell of a day for ArmA :smile
Anyway, I've got some work to do... :icon_magician

And that would be...?
It's a secret :wink2

5164  - Fixed: Handling of invalid keys on dedicated servers improved
As not ONE of the many publishers has posted/made public any range of keys/ID's they use let me be the first to wish you the best of luck.

Note that any range of cd-keys or game ID's effected will of course be circumvented withen an hour.
They probably just set it to block the obvious ones, like over 10 digits or something.
And you also have a spelling error, "withen"  :icon_razz2

Publicly accessible servers are still privately owned.
The bottom line is public means "open to all persons".
Guess what, I'm a person.
Don't know why I bothered, boredom I guess. You're a selfish idiot and don't give a shit about the other people playing the game, so I don't expect to get through to you.

But they are public servers...

If you built a swing in a public area of course people are gonna use in the way they want regardless of how many rules you have on posters.
If you made it private and put of in your back yard it's a different story.
Doesn't change the fact that it's not your property. Doesn't give you the right to mess with the people on it.
Publicly accessible servers are still privately owned.

"opinions are like assholes , everybody have one"
And you are one :icon_magician

You said he cant play the game properly...
By saying that you are implying he isn't following some kind of guidelines/rules that you feel are the proper way of playing.

Obviously. Other people pay for the servers and allow you to play on them. You don't own them, so you don't have a right to do what you please on them. Not to mention that it ruins the fun for other players.

If you set up and payed for your own server, then it wouldn't be a problem.
