Was watching the new Netflix version of Cowboy Bebop, and they did my dude Vicious wrong for sure haha.

I'm still alive, actually in Iceland on a layover at the moment then heading to Vienna, Zagreb, Warsaw, and Berlin for the next week.

What all happened since the TKC days? Hmmm. 16+ years in the Army as a military intel officer. Moved 20-25 times in 15 years. Ended up in South Korea 2012-2014 on work contract after grad school. Ended up in cloud security consulting for a Silicon Valley tech firm. Haven't touched an online game in over a decade, prefer grand strategy (Paradox Interactive type stuff) and off line RPGs (Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny, and so on).

Life has been pretty wild. Bought my second house in August up in Wyoming to go more off grid, sold my last place in Denver and rode out quarantine up in Vail. Went full mountain redneck, have a garage full of motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and so on. Pretty far from my trolling folks on Vietcong days. Loved this community back in the day.

Not sure if any alumni are around, but ZOldDude, The Heckler, MO, Wizzkid, MrMedic, whomever, feel free to track me down on Instagram, Linkedin, Facebook, etc. My login email here is tied to my accounts if you want to put a face behind the man. DM me if you need too.

Cheers,

-[TKC] Vicious (long retired)

Add on to solutions I tried -

Swapped the card to another PCIE x 16 slot. Worked fine & played games for about an hour. Hit alt-tab and hard freeze, now hard freezes at login screen again. Ah technology...

Well i've been suffering from some intermittent problem on my PC for the last few months and am running out of ideas on how to fix it.
Basically, I cannot boot windows with my video drivers enabled is the short problem. It will freeze instantly at the load screen, requiring a hard reset. It had occasionally made it to the desktop, only to freeze a few seconds-couple minutes later.
Quick stats-

AMD3 6 core "Thuban" CPU, running @ standard 2.8ghz speed, not overclocked. Runs around 38 degrees, same temp at the case itself.
8 GB of 1600 DDR 3 G-Skill "RIPJAWS" RAM (4 x 2gb sticks)
Gigbabyte 890FXA-UD5 motherboard
120gb SSD drive I was running Windows 7 64 bit pro off of, now it's unplugged & I'm using a 1Tb 7200 RPM Samsung SATA Drive
2 More 1 Tb SATA 7200 RPM WD Black Caviar drives for storage.
Nvidia 470 "Fermi" Superclocked card, about 1.3gb of video RAM.
Corsair 750 w 80 PLUS certified PSU.

Anyhow, some of the methods i've tried to locate the problem-
About 5 drive formats and reinstalls of windows
Using different hard drives to run windows off of
Testing PSU w/ a digital multi-meter to ensure it has correct voltages even under load. The entire system should only draw 665w at the most, so 750W should be fine.
Swapping out all 4 memory sticks and to different slots, no difference.
Trying various combinations of video card drivers and system drivers. No dice.
I managed to get the computer running fine for about 2 weeks with no change, then mysteriously the problem started back.

The problem seems to build on itself, once it freezes and requires a hard reset, then it will start to freeze upon boot/login.

The main methods I'm down to is a BIOS issue, motherboard issue or something is screwy with the video card. I can start windows w/o the drivers and run the built in VGA @ 1280 x 800 since that's the highest it goes, but nothing else.
I'm burned out on the whole thing, and any thoughts/advice is much appreciated at this point!

Alright, thanks for advice. Picked up the AMD Phenom II X6 2.8ghz CPU, gonna see how 6 cores treats me. I'll let you all know how the project goes, it's been 3 years since I built a PC for myself and i'm rusty on hardware!

May have bit myself in the ass for not paying attention here, so got a question.

Got the parts for my new rig, and the MB is compatible with DDR3 memory, running 1066/1333/1866 (OC) mhz speeds. I wasn't paying attention and got 1600mhz instead...even though it runs higher and lower speeds, i'm going to assume it would be a big no-no to try and run 1600mhz on it? My gut says not to do it, but figured i'd see if anyone here had done that and gotten away damage free. Since otherwise i'll have to RMA the shit through newegg which will probably take a week or more.. :icon_sad2

Didn't know if you all had unlocked any amusing ones yet..

I found "My Lil' Pwny" & "Five-sided Fistagon" amusing  :icon_laugh

Anyone know if the unpatched version (cracked/ 1.0.165) will work MP w/ updated servers? There's been gameplay changes so I would imagine you couldn't play with the updated servers using the original crack... :icon_o_o

FWIW SuprNova on multiplayer cheats has a working ESP for the current version (1.0.169 I think)

I don't know for sure, but I think that was when I completely filled their forums w/ nonsense about the end of the world and what-not. Good times, though not terribly mature,,  :icon_rolleyes2

Cannot get the MP crack to work, game launches fine however keep getting told that Steam has to be in online mode to play. Even though steam is "online" (if you can call it that) and I have the option to go offline with it. Any thoughts or did I epically fail?

simple ....

they want console to win .. they dont want pc there is more money in console games their harder to pirate ... its buisness

Hit the nail on the head. It's all a numbers game now, and the serious PC gamer will lose. Soon it will be all pop-cap games and shit on pc.

Coronel_Niel: If your talking about player XP, it's player side, 4 byte integer easy enough to find & alter.

I was under the impression that killstreaks were server-side?  :icon_o_o

I've still seen trackers & sometimes the site online just yesterday. Seems to be fading away though, as alot of torrents don't show up on it anymore  :icon_sad2
