lol ok - seems not to be so easy to solve that - tho u were so very near ...
so i think i give u the right answer now...

it's 7!

Z was right - u have to cut out the redundant people...

so at the table there were:

the grandfather (= 1 father = the father-in-law)
the grandmother (= 1 mother = the mother-in-law)

the father (= 1 son = 1 child)
the mother (= the daughter-in-law)

the son (= one child = one grandchild = the brother)
2 daughters (= 2 children = 2 grandchildren = 2 sisters)

53 muahaha ( evil laugh ) god loves a sinner

You've created a rift in space/time! The universe is doomed!  :icon_o_o

1..2...miss a few ...99....100

quantum mechanics ;)

If i understand correct, numbers are all relative, so any number can be anywhere based on it's probability field like electrons. So 1 is most likely to come before 2, not always.   :icon_confused2

Anyway we are most likely on 24 now, right..?

you could look at it that way but really numbers do not exist, it's just a way of making it easier for humans to quantify items .. eg .. a cave man before numbers were around turned to his kid n said .. how many leaves on that tree .. kid shrugged n they went on their merry way .. some form of society must have conjoured up counting as some type of barter system maybe.

19  ....

the basis of counting actually is natural in humans, its in our genes - as in many animals - some bird species for example can evidently count too. Their ability to count is just limited - up to a certain number humans and intelligent animals can registrate the total number of things they look at at once without needing to count (dont remember which number - think it was 12). Human societies just have developped this natural ability further into complex systems...just like languages too...and plspls dont ever underestimate cave man.. we 're nearer to them than we like to think... :wink2

hm don't think its 20 now - rather 28 or not?

« on: October 20, 2007, 02:42:31 am »
The big problem we have about that global warming affair is that we cannot actually tell if it has natural reasons or is of anthropogenic origin. And we will never find a way to tell because there has always been natural climate changes and shifts throughout the history of mankind (and before). U can tell from archeological as well as from geological sources. On the other hand human society has never before used up so many ressources in so short a time and has never before reached this level of population and industrialisation. We cannot see yet what will be the consequences of that.
So u can argue for both views in fact but we will never know who was right or who was wrong because climate is a far too complex system to be understood fully.
But after all i think it would not be too stupid to be a little careful and keep an eye on our way of using ressources and causing pollution - there is no other planet we can move to.

"a scientist keeps the spirit of research and contribute to the progress of sciences and their applications , he keeps the quality of teaching and works for the integration of it in the culture of the modern humans"  bando

well said! i agree  :smile and would like to add that a scientist needs to keep an open mind and open eyes to see whats going on in the world
