Random Insanity Board / 10 years at TKC

in 3 months i will have been registered a whole decade. Thanks to all the friends i've met over the years and i say fuck you from the depths of my heart to my favorite english mate.

Medic, i love you. we were just too much of the same and unfortunately you let intelligence get in the way of the friendship... you just never could be happy knowing that you met someone smarter than you.

I should make a badge that says "ive never used a medic hack once in my life, not even for testing" and wear it with honor (honour for you weird english types)

So ill dedicate this decade to Medic. fuck you m8 and tell the family i wish em the best. cheers and best health mate (if you fkn tell me one more time how you are immune to cancer im going to stick your balls in the microwave and test the theory).

wheres the goddamned cake?

For the kids who don't know what IRC is, it predates AIM and all that nonsense... actually, the kids prolly don't know what AIM is either.

Internet Relay Chat, Simple, fast, low bandwidth and stable.

Go download your IRC client of choice and connect to then type /join #tkc

This is where i hangout most often, bring some beer and a good attitude.

Off Topic / need help with a server box setup
« on: September 21, 2012, 08:54:17 pm »
Anyone have any suggestions for a box with about 2gbs ram, at minumum a dual core

Me and someone from another community (not game related) are setting up some servers on his fat connection for secured personal use only within our small community. We want IRC, website, FTP/dropbox, email.

We are using Centos for the box's OS, and ubuntu server on the vm's for each individual service (i couldnt talk him into using centos as well since he is a debian diehard)

Since there are going to be multiple people administrating different aspects of the server i would like to be able to establish a remote connection via terminal. Im pretty sure 256MB each VM would be acceptable, but i would prefer 512 each. Was also thinking along the lines of a PIII.

I'm tired of what this forum has become and im one to blame also as i sit here and don't do anything about it. Also I haven't contributed anything of beneficial value in along time and some could claim ever. It's not even the fact about all the bickering, its the fact people are reluctant to share information.

TKC has turned into a place for contests to take place, which i feel is the ultimate expression of the most advanced of skill sets once you establish how to play nice and have the character to backup your skills. You can be the most talented person in the world and still have nobody's respect. Its like building a bomb, yeah... people can easily piece together a bomb but its the idea behind the bomb and the wisdom to use it correctly which makes history and ultimately defines something. I feel as if the masses have found a plutonium stash and everybody is welcome to blow whatever up without a philosophy of any sort.

People feel safe behind their computer screen and feel ultimate that their words are out there, but i would be happier having a few people who respected not only me but more importantly themselves read what i have to say. People who just sit around and WAIT to "destroy" what developers have spent countless hours on are no better than kids who go out throwing eggs at cars. It looks as people have no philosophy and are just here because they are too scared of the outside world to get in real trouble and they use this as an excuse to get out whatever frustrations they have in life. It isn't fair to anyone especially these lost souls who honestly don't have anyone else to do. lol.

I can honestly say i have more important things to do in my life, i would love to keep in contact with some of you and i will stop in on the teamspeak every now and then but i have digested no actual beneficial information to keep myself here. I used to stay for the social side and get kicks answering peoples PM's that have honest and intelligent queries but this hasn't been fun for me for a long time.

I will put my contact email in my profile, you may view it from there if there is anything you would like to communicate with me for.

You can remove me from the CC and administrative positions.

Off Topic / What is your native operating system
« on: February 04, 2011, 07:31:32 pm »
What operating system do you use overall, what pros/cons do you face with this operating system as compared to other OS's that you have used. Im looking for a more detailed answer than "windows".

Personally i find myself using Windows7 x64 for my normal tasking because it easily supports the massive workload i have open, it boots very quickly and i need to get new familiar with new software for the field of computer repair. I rarely use my backtrack4 or XP installation, though i find myself in there when i want to do something specific to the operating system, mess around on my network or recover lost data with backtrack.

Off Topic / Do not purchase Iomega products
« on: January 25, 2011, 06:44:36 am »
Just had an external fail. product is in warranty but it still costs 25 dollars for a friggen phone call to their "customer support" and ive been trying to get a hold of them on their 1 on 1 live chat for the last 1.5 hours. its absurd. Pay the extra 20 bucks and get an actual name brand. no sense in loosing your data and not being able to get any customer service. cant believe it.

lol, talked to the customer rep on text chat i should have copied it.
i started off with
"im a computer IT professional so can we please skip all the PEBKAC errors, the disk isnt spinning, ive tested the power supply with a volt meter, the indicator light is on but the drive wont spin"
he says
"did you try another power supply"
I said
"im proficient with a volt meter...
he said
"you can send the drive in at your own expense and we will send you another"
i said
"what about the data"
he said
"you can send it in to a professional to get the data, but its expensive"
i said
"i know, im certified in data retrieval, i just didn't want to open the drive and risk void in warranty"
he said
"well if your certified then its no problem"
i said
"what information do you need from my shop before i start to disassemble the drive as not to void my warranty"
he said
"none, as long as you state your going through a professional which you are"
i said
some more stuff and he said some more stuff

i just wanted to open the enclosure to take the rattling bits out because i dropped it and didnt want them to know it was my fault lol.

plus why not, ive got the green-light on an attempt to take the disk out and place it in another enclosure. i figure my chances of successfully getting this right is about 2% if its even possible.

i aint certified in shit lol, but its in Iomegas records that mr.Sym is an expert so beware if you send your drive in, it may come to me rofl.

I got a one year contract working a in a small un-heard of town in Alaska named Kotzebue. I doubt they have high-speed available and the status of getting internet in the short term is slim. I wish everyone the best.

Pssshhh Z, you brag about being up north, but you cant get much north than this lol. check it out on a map.

I didn't even know about the job until yesterday and i jumped on it. I've got TONS of stuff to get ready before i go.

P.S. if anyone wants to buy a lifted 96' ford ranger, v6, 4wd, manual or a 86' kawasaki 454 ltd motorcycle in so-cal hit me up. Great deals available.
