UNCLASSIFIED

The British are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Brits have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to a "Bloody Nuisance". The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was during the great fire of 1666.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide". The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender". The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France 's white flag factory, effectively paralysing the country's military capability.

It's not only the French who are on a heightened level of alert. Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout loudly and excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing". Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides".

The Germans also increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbour" and "Lose".

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual, and the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels ..

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Americans meanwhile are carrying out pre-emptive strikes on all of their allies, just in case.

And at a local level...

New Zealand has also raised its security levels - from "baaa" to "BAAAA!". Due to continuing defence cutbacks (the airforce being a squadron of spotty teenagers flying paper aeroplanes and the navy some toy boats in the Prime Minister's bath), New Zealand only has one more level of escalation, which is "Shut, I hope Austrulia will come end riscue us". In the event of invasion, New Zealanders will be asked to gather together in a strategic defensive position called "Bondi".

Australia, meanwhile, has raised its security level from "No worries" to "She'll be right, mate". Three more escalation levels remain: "Crikey!", "I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend" and "The barbie is cancelled". There has not been a situation yet that has warranted the used of the final escalation level.

MY LIVING WILL

Last night, my friend and I were sitting in the living room, and I said to her, 'I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle.

If that ever happens, just pull the plug.'

She got up, unplugged the computer, and threw out my wine.

She's such a bitch.....

Computer trouble!

I was having trouble with my computer. So I called Richard, the 11 year old next door whose bedroom looks like Mission Control, and asked him to come over.

Richard clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.

As he was walking away, I called after him, 'So, what was wrong?

He replied, 'It was an ID ten T error.'

I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, 'An, ID ten T error? What's that?  In case I need to fix it again.'

Richard grinned.  'Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?''

No,' I replied.

'Write it down,' he said, 'and I think you'll figure it out.'

So I wrote down:     I D 1 0 T

I used to like the little sh*t........

These Northern California wild fires are south and west of me. One whole town has been evacuated.

Just read the posted news link (For my interest : 35 sq mile = 22400acres / 9000 hectare) -I certainly hope the fires dont end up like they have here in Victoria (Aus) -"In early 2009, bushfires swept across Victoria, devastating 78 communities and 400, 000 hectares (1545 sq mile) of land.  It is currently thought that 173 people lost their lives during the fires. A total of 2029 homes were destroyed along with 61 businesses, 5 schools and kindergartens, 3 sporting clubs and numerous other buildings"

Here is 2 photo's of our privet lake (about half of it if you add both photos).
The photo from car of road at the top of the hill by the lake and home is 1 mile away as the road turns into the trees.
1 mile to mailbox (south) or 1 mile to privet lake (north) with bass from my driveway.

Z, sounds like a great life change.

Not that I been (assuming your up the northern part of California) but flow over on the way from LA to Calgary, during last April.  I was amazed at how quick you leave the suburbia of LA, striahgt into the mountains (which I can now appreciate the prob's LA etc have had with wildfires), with snow covered peaks, and i'm assuming desert to the east of the range = all very spectacular from the air.

Will check out the vid's and pics later on.

Would be good to see more of the US, not jsut the glamorised LA/Hollywood version of the US.

i go on ts to have a laugh and relax not to answer questions so the words ' i dont know ' will be heard a lot lol
I do about the same...and throw back a few beers.

hopefully i could do the same, but with me in Oz, I'll need to judge the timezone differences .......

Z and Sym, I gather you're both in California (so LA time is easy to get) ??
Yeah Sym lived about 20 minutes freeway time from me when I was back in L.A. and was 12 miles away from the undersea cable connection to one of the worlds 13 major DNS server connections that feeds internet from North America to AU.

I flew over his house when I came up to my new home at the top of California last year.

bah 20 mins.... maby in a ferarri with no traffic.

was a good drive, id say hour and 10 min drive. i went there once to be a deckhand at one of the yacht clubs down there.

z i want to get an O of the top shelf of the prop 215 and bring it by up to nocal one of these days.

that last line was straight california code words.

when we visited LA, the tour guide kept telling us that everything was 15min as the crow flies to the coast, but an hour to drive.

when we picked up the car and drove san diego to LA and around LA, we experienced what she meant (and thank god for GPS)
