Remember I said "Fuck it I will just build a new computer"?
I stated collecting the parts today.

8800GTS (G92)
Led Monitor 5ns widescreen 1440x900 native (my first non-CRT)
Thermalright extreem cooler and adaptors/s-clips
Silverstone FM-121 fans (not the FN-121)
AMD dualcore 3Ghz stock
Corsair XMS2 DDR-800 (just becuase it was onsale 2GB for $29 USD)
PC Power & Cooling 610 (constant 49 Amps @ 12V sngl rail under full rated load and 40C input air temp....surge rated at 735 Watts @ 40C and dead short)

I have a new ECS 520LE (cheep $40 USD I had) which I will use untill a DFI 790XF both gets the newer 700 SB chips and comes down in price...then I will also get some faster ram when it is onsale.
Putting all this into a Coolermaster case that hold an old 3200+ XP.

The AMD Quads are now shipping with the B3 stepping and will pick one up next year when the 3Ghz ship for under $300 USD to go with the DFI MB.

The GFX,fans and cooler should be here monday.

EDIT: Every thing is here and system together....but the UPS it was plugged into DIED and took the PSU with it. I went to Best Buy and got some cheap 700Watt $69 PSU and it booted into bios and gets stuck "searching for array"....wtf it only has and old 80GB drive to get the OS and updates befor I put in the 500GB and clone it.

Anyhow I will swap out the MB at Fry's and RMA the fried PSU Friday.

System spec threads are usually all about the ePeen anyway, so here goes:

Tech Station Case - This thing is basically an open case... it's a platform on the bottom with mounts for the mother board, four poles on the corners, and a nice platform on the top with padding for the DVD + Hard Drives and power supplies. Cooling on this thing rocks. Plus, I prefer to see my beautiful hardware rather than some fancy ass case that you could toss some 486DX into and it would look just as sweet.

Intel E6750 Core 2 Duo 2.66ghz stock oc'd to 3.6ghz - Running stable on full load with orthos at 50 degrees... tech station for the win.. plus the following:
Zalman 9700 CPU Cooler - I run it full speed, so it's loud, but I'm all about performance. Plus I wear bigass headphones all the time anyway.

EVGA 8800 Ultra Superclocked - Didn't bother overclocking, this thing is overkill anyway

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L Mobo - Good low price, but good for OC'ng with this cpu combo
4GB Crucial DDR2 1066 - Some descriptions of my mobo say it's only good with 800, but apparently they f'd up the information and 1066 works just fine.
Corsair CMPSU-620HX - 620w, 50A on triple +12V rails
1x WD Raptor 150GB - Zoooom!
2x WD 500GB SATA 3.0

Logitech MX518 - Best mouse EVER.
Logitech G15 Keyboard - Best keyboard EVER. (Buy a keyboard cover for it though if you drink anything next to the PC - I've spilled a few drinks on it, only reason it still works is cause of my keyboard cover) I set my programmable hotkeys on the left for instant cheating goodness.  :icon_thumbsup

Samsung 226BW 22" Widescreen @ 1680x1050 - My first non-CRT as well.  :icon_biggrin2

Yeah, yeah, you might read this and say 'omg you waste money on your computer' but I work on my computer and work on computers at my job, so, if I'm going to spend any leftover money after my '72 Camaro, it's going here.  :icon_biggrin2

My -new- XP Builders disk set came on the UPS truck today.
Took 3 hours to format, install and update.
Get a 4 sec boot to desktop with the 7200.11
Got the cheap-end DDR2-800 running @ DDR2-861 so far all day, will keep stress testing all night.
It should take a few days to see how far I can get.

CPU under full load is running 4C over room temp with the cooler I picked out.
EDIT: Took the ECS MB back and had a M2N32-SLI Deluxe shipped.
Don't use the software OC program....I had to clear the RTC!

WD 500GB 7200RPM 16MB

Get that cheap Corsair DDR2-800 (2 x 1GB for $29 USD on sale) even if you MB will not support that speed....you can always run it at a slower speed but with -very low- timeings!

I lowered my timeings -alot- so far and have it up to DDR2-861 (3-3-3-11)...have seen the same crappy ram running @ DDR2-916 but the timeings are really bad (5-5-5-19).

EDIT: I need a reg key for 3dMark06.

I read about that on one of my torrent club sites today...seems Youtube and Google are screwed as well from your ISP for hours on end as well.

Anyhow when you do d/l it get the newest rvs 110 and run it with "ALL" tests checked but do not change any other settings.
I can get you a set of reg keys if you need them.

Ahead of his time, that's what I got today. However, that comp would probably work well as a server/cloud.

yeah I guess so,why wouldn't it? I never had a cloud with that specs.. roughly a dozen or so times worse VPS and I could start any kinda server I want (Including game servers too, with reasonable amount of slots of course) :P
