Post by: IllAssembly on December 13, 2007, 04:59:09 am
hey ive asked around and i cant seem to get any help, but other forums [including armaholic] actually referenced you TKC guys and said u would know all about time changing. here is what i need to accomplish.

i need a script to add these functions to Chinit.sqs        - >               Change time to 11pm
                                                                                               Change time to 9am

[basically i want to change the daylight regardless of time whenever i want, day or night.]

im hoping it would be a not too difficult script to create. thanks

   :behead

and actually i want to join a clan of cool ppl that dont care if i use TKC i dont have a clan and im nice. lol i play by myself :icon_thumbsup id like a team so yeah

Mmmmm...should be no problem to change the time of day on a map and I thought that was already part of the SCP. I know it was in the OFP CP.

If you want to play fair with a clan (like a ladder) check out RN or contact Escobar.
As long as you have not been logged screwing them over you should have NP with them.
I'm waiting on the 1.09 patch befor I reinstall ArmA (needed HD space).

Code: [Select]
skipTime (0-daytime+12)This sets the time to 12:00am every time you activate it. Just change that 12 from 0 to 23 for whatever time you need!

Is it just me or is 99% of the ArmA modding community total shit?
All there is at the moment are 100 garbage sound mods and a bunch of crappy special effects mods!

The only cool noteworthy modifications for ArmA have been from TKC and the XAM team.

Well when ArmA was still installed I played alot of COOP in my own LAN and the TrueRangeAI was a good mod.
Check out the HI RES movie made by that ArmAVids guy that loves us so much.

lol wesker i wasnt and im still not sure which way they were aiming their reference, but its either they were being dumb bitches and refusing not to help because i openly admitted to using TKC, or they actually used the TKC for a beneficial gaming reference. either way,

both are in the top 5,TKC being #1[no bullshit included] but check out the op frenchpoint VBL's on armaholic. totally ill.

im not interested in dedicating anything to the game, but its a social game. so i could care less about clan wars but i do want in them, because im nice [no bullshit included] the first time i played i got invited into clans in the first game ever because i can shoot the spectator bird. lol.  :icon_teehee i like to get very blazed off cali buds and drink appleton special jamaica rum when i play arma. but i want the co-op experience what the fuck i paid for the game. whos clan is fun let me join.i dont wanna play with a bunch of 10 year old bitches either.

Unfortunately most anti-cheaters seem to overlook the fact that the SCP is a innovation in Arma MOD's. Its also alot better put together than some of the mods ive decrypted. Some of source code ive seen in these mods reminds me of the standard of programming i saw 10 years ago in programming classes  :icon_laugh

Most ppl also fail to recognise that the SCP itself does not cause client/server instability (not to be confused with a script run by the scp). This is because its been put together by experienced programmers, not part time hobbyist programmers (though you cant fault their merit!)!

Yup lots of great ideas, just not enough technical proficiency to pull it off! we should offer our services on a consultancy basis, free of course.

I love being recruited by a clan for being a "specialist". I remember playing Vietcong and CoD2 when I was approached by many clans asking if I wanted to join their clans as they need a  good sniper. I was only ever in about 3 clans in CoD2 and about triple that in Vietcong but in all the clans I trained someone else to have a steady aim and patience (even though patience comes naturally).

Code: [Select]
setDate [1986, 2, 25, 16, 0] is better because you can move time forward or backwards   :)

It depends on the given situation. Particularly if he plays a roll playing mission and he gets to a point where it says "come back in 1 days time".
Using that date method could end up just pushing him back in time.

I'd personally just use
Code: [Select]
skipTime 2A few middle mouse clicks from the SCP menu will get you through the night.  :icon_biggrin2

That's another thing. Night sucks!
Next hack might fix that  :icon_shifty

But seriously, the best mods take time. There are some big projects being worked on. I don't see any major ArmA mods from TKC. SCP doesn't count, it's just a bunch of crappy scripts with stupid things like spawning zombies.

Innovation? How? It's just a bunch of crappy scripts based of work by other people. Sure some mods are badly put together because not everyone is experienced with this kind of stuff. Unfortunately some people who could make things better would rather make childish scripts intended to ruin public MP games.
I've opened up SCP, nothing there impressed me. Some things are coded in a pretty crappy way, like the weird way you use to execute scripts on other people's PCs.

And the script used to protect the cheater from having his keyboard locked up. That really could have been done in a less performance costly way.

hash, why don't you join TKC?

You should always mention TKC to any clan you try to join. Be proud of TKC.

You've obviously failed to realise that the SCP is a very effective realtime debugging console.....

Well it wouldn't impress you would it....

nothing wierd about how its done, thats just your perception coupled with an inability to 'think outside the box'.

Agreed. However i've never used it exactly for that reason, i dont need a script to prevent my keyboard being locked...

You just said that to get my attention! :icon_razz2

Naaa, I'm after the whole modding communities attention here.
The game has been out since Nov 2006 and the modding system is pretty much identical to OFP. No excuses please.

I know many people who have bought ArmA just to use TKC SCP... You'll see it mentioned in some of my YouTube comments.
I doubt anyone has bought ArmA to use any of the other released mods (including XAM on that point).

I realise that. But it's not the only one. I already have a debugging console.

The mod tools were released pretty late. Just because only a few mods are announced doesn't mean that they are the only ones being made.
Some modders are working quietly. They don't all post everywhere thinking that having loads of attention makes their mod cool :wink2
Some of the smaller addons can make the game seem very different when used together. The maps, units and so on from different people.

MrMedic and Hash seem to love posting funny little pictures :icon_biggrin2
Obviously they have nothing clever to say :icon_razz2

True, modders should collaborate and make mod packs.
