Title: GFX Cards
Post by: M. O. on June 13, 2005, 11:18:33 am
I recently read an article saying a new Nvidia card is coming, the Geforce 7800. I'm thinking of buying a new computer quite soon, and I guess I need to reupdate myself on the subject. I got lost a little bit after the heaps of new cards were released. There never were that many cards out on the market before.

I've heard that ATI X900 and Geforce FX 6800 are the best cards. Is that right? Some of you peeps recently bought a new gfx card?

I bought an FX5950 about a year ago....with my system Vietcong has up to 319 fps.

I really do not think I could SEE any differant from that to the latest $400 card. The human eye can only see so much.

When you can play VC with HIGH fps then you can play ANY game in high mode!

What are your fps in VC now? How high are they on JUST the menu page?

Are you running box-stock or have you used the overclocking program that may have come with your MB data disk?

My ram times are set @ 2.2.2.4 and a FSB of 440 and a cpu rato of 1:1.....but I am only air cooled or I would have used some ddr-550 and really turned the FSB up (using higher ram times tho).

GF7xxx (http://www.megagames.com/news/html/hardware/gf7800itsofficial.shtml)

Looks very promising. Crap, I guess prices will be really high on the 7xxx series later this summer. And I don't want to buy old 6xxx stuff.

Lol AMD X2 4800+ is in the stores too.

Yes but the AMD pricing/production system meens this time next year it will be about 48% less money.. right now they are anout the same price at the single core top-of-line.

Also the quad core AMD will be out in only a few months....it will be the same price but have less heat and use LESS power!

I did a small OC on my FX 5950 and got 376 fps in Vietcong sunday (just a test....now back to how I had it).

I prefer nVidia over ATI - from the same reasons I prefer Intel over AMD.    In my experience the nVidia / Intel systems are more stable.
