Today's launch has been aborted at 11:42hrs MDT due to wind gusts making an attempt too risky. There is a second backup balloon but the weather may not be favourable for a launch tomorrow (10/10).

An Austrian adventurer will have to wait at least until Sunday to skydive from a balloon flying 23 miles above New Mexico in an attempt to break a long-standing freefall record and the sound barrier.

Felix Baumgartner, 43, had hoped to make the jump on Thursday following two delays this week because of high winds in Roswell, N.M. But the weather will keep Baumgartner, a licensed helicopter pilot, hot-air balloonist and professional skydiver, grounded until at least Sunday.

New world records set:

1) Highest manned balloon flight.
2) Highest parachute jump.
3) Fastest free fall @ 1.24 times the speed of sound.

Missed world record:

Longest free fall...he was moving too fast!
